The Point When You Want To Give Up: The Best Time Ever!

If you’re a normal human being.  And that’s everyone who’s reading this.  There are times throughout our lives when we feel like we’ve hit a brick wall or reached a point where you want to give up.  Do you know what I mean?  I reckon you do.

The Point When You Want To Give Up The Point When You Want To Give Up: The Best Time Ever!

But the reality of these moments is that they are in actual fact the best times imaginable because of the promise they offer just over that ‘hump’ or ‘the other side of the fence’  – as soon as we gather ourselves, pick ourselves up and keep going.

These ‘lessons’ are put in front of us to challenge us.

Of course there is that period of time where we pause a while, shake our heads and wallow in a bit of frustration and maybe even anger, bitterness and some other normal human emotions – especially when we’ve tried our best for something, given all we have (or at least think we’ve given all we’ve got…) it’s ok, we’re allowed a bit of time to breathe, reflect, feel a bit ‘pissed off’ and all that jazz…

BUT

I believe that you, like me, are the type of person who only wallows in those frustration a very short time.

Because we know and understand that the only time these setbacks, these roadblocks, these seemingly closed doors are put in front of us in a blaze of frustration, short term defeat and real teeth-grinding anger is when we are about to hit that home run!

The moment we are so close to achieving the goals we set for ourselves is the moment we are slapped with these ‘barriers’.  They are the final test before we justifiably grab what we deserve and what we’ve worked so hard for.

The problem is too many people stop at this point.

They stop right at the point they were about to reach their particular goal.

Its amazing to wonder how many people we know and also how many people throughout life have stopped or given up just as they were about to get to their goal.

A Story…

I liken it to reaching a locked door at the top of a huge hill…

You’ve had to crawl through dirt, mud, snow whatever…

You’ve slipped and kept going all with the desire to reach the door waiting at the top – the door is wide open, a glowing light warmly floats out to you and your going to get there.

You crawl and crawl, determined to reach it, others are stopping, telling you not to bother, your wasting your time. But you keep going.

Finally you are on the flat.

You pick yourself up and start running, you sense your about to get to the door, you sprint.

Then, as you reach the door, dipping your head to cross the finish line and step into the goal of your recent struggle, journey, achievement, desire or whatever this accomplishment is to you…the door slams shut!

You hit it hard, fall back and stare in total shock at the seemllngly impenetrable closed door now mere feet from your face.

The anger boils up, the frustration is overwhelming and you begin asking yourself – once you’ve coped with the fury of this complete injustice – just what you have to do to reach your goals! Life is so unfair.

BUT:

At this point.  The point where many people tell themselves it just was not meant to be, or are consoled by the people around them who never really encouraged them on the real tough part of the journey, many people throughout history have all just walked away.  Telling themselves they need to regroup, fight another day and hopefully a new path is ready to be opened.

Or some will simply give up all together and sadly be left to battle the total injustice of all this in their minds, forever picturing the door closing and their struggle leading to a painful and unfair conclusion…

They’ll walk back down that hill, passing others who are crawling through the dirt, the mud the freezing snow, all aiming for their own glowing door, their own doorway to the conclusion of their current personal goal.

And these people who’ve turned and walked away in bitter frustration will shake their heads, tell others its worthless or perhaps wish these people crawling through the dirt better luck than they had…

The Point When You Want To Give Up: The Best Time Ever!

And at the bottom of the hill they once climbed they’ll turn round and sigh with a ‘told you so’ attitude to the next wave of people crawling to the top of the hill and reaching the door.

But this time they watch

They see the doors slam shut on the next wave of people who’ve had the guts to try..

But as others crawl away, feeling the same frustration as all the rest, one person gets up, brushes themselves down and walks to their shut door.

This person reaches out, grabs the handle and forces the door open, the glowing light explodes and casts a warm glow over the hill as this person walks in, head held high.

The Hard Part & The Easy Part…

You see in our lives we are all capable of doing the hard part of something, a lot of times we do it or are doing it without even being aware.  Other times we are well aware of the path we are dedicating our efforts to.

But the big secret when you reach that door that closes and stares at you as a setback or ‘a brick wall’ or ‘a huge hurdle’ on your path to success in whatever you do is to remember that all you have to do is open the door.  All you have to do is demand to keep going!

Its a cruel irony that a lot of times we are conditioned to think that the setback is the final curtain.  Well it is, but it depends how you perceive this ‘final curtain’.

Is it a sign that you were not meant to do the thing you are doing or striving for?

Or, is it a symbol of something you are expected to pass through, a final curtain that you pull back to the next level of your life, the reward of accomplishment and the proof that you can do anything you want and deserve exactly what you are getting…

As long as you have the guts to actually TAKE what you want and don’t stand at the door afraid to open it and unaware that achievement is all in your hands: from the first step to the opening of the final door.

Anyone is capable of doing anything they want in life.

We all must make sure we’re ready and willing to not only put the effort in on the journey but equally let nothing stop us – ever.

In a final challenge – that all to often people perceive as the biggest hurdle – we are faced with the need to finish what we started with our own hands.

No one is doing this for us.  Its down to us.  The final requirement is that we confirm we want this and are willing to turn the handle, open the door and really accept what it is we have strived for.

Nothing can hold us back. Especially that final hurdle that is only a simple step to ‘the reward’ or ‘the next level’ of the lives that we’ve wanted all along.

So I say to you to take it.  You deserve it.  And don’t wait.  You’ve done the hard part… ‘The set back’ is in fact only ‘the door’ your supposed to finally go through to grow, achieve and take what you want in your life.

Wishing you all the very best and unstoppable determination on your journey.

Cheers,

Tris
