With so much emphasis seemingly placed on standard or traditional crunches to get superb results in our abs training its interesting to look also at other, less conventional exercises that actually can in fact give us better results in our core workouts than what we typically think or are told online.

If you search online you find most info will focus on crunches (I don’t ever do ‘normal’ crunches and don’t want you to either) and moves such as leg lifts, twist crunches and suchlike.

Best Exercises For Lower Abs: Pull Ups? (Research is key)

Now a lot of exercises for our core and stomach workouts are good. but I’ve done much research lately into the moves that are certainly not considered to be ‘ab specific’.

I read an article around 6 months ago and I’m disappointed to say I cannot recall of the top of my head who wrote it but it discussed the use of a pull up move to really get a great ab workout! in fact it said as much that the pull up was the best ab exercise you could do! Cool!

So I began experimenting and did a video for you below to show how to do it.

There is a secret to the way you actually perform the pull up to get an abs and core workout for your lower and upper abs but its not hard, it just requires you to focus on the correct positioning.

I really think there is great merit in this exercise as one to add not only a great abs, core and lower abs workout to your regime but as you may know the pull up is also one of the absolute best compound moves you can do for total body development and a TRUE test of your strength when lifting your total body weight.

Best Exercises For Lower Abs: Pull Ups? (get up on the pull up bar!)

I know of course some people find pull ups harder to do but I think now is a good time to get ‘up on the bar’ and begin – even if its only a couple reps – to learn this move and get the double benfit of both a brilliant compound exercise for overall body development AND a superb lower abs exercise to really fine tune your core muscles.

You’ll be surprised at how much it can work the abs if done like in this video below.
