Full Workout – I Hate Cardio Workout!
How To Do Cardio For Fat Burning [When You HATE Cardio!]

I will admit it. I hate cardio.
The picture here is of me having just done a 6K (Kilometre) run with my Brother who is a Firefighter. He loves long distance running and talked me into running through the lakes and beautiful hiking trails near my family home in England on our recent trip home to see everyone. The night before I told him ‘No Problem!’ …As I collapsed after the run in the hot UK weather I swore it was the last time I’d do it!
So cardio – or LONG DURATION STEADY PACE cardio is not my thing…
Although, back in the day when I planned on playing pro soccer for a living (as most young guys do in England) I realized to my horror that I’d have to get bloody used to cardio training and long duration cardio or I’d not be doing ANY soccer at all. I put up with it and tolerated it so I could play the game I loved then.
But as I got into the fitness industry and changed my training and fitness interests to bodybuilding, elite conditioning and more anaerobic exercise – specifically to build lean muscle and burn stubborn body fat, I found newer ways to get results using a DIFFERENT sort of cardio.
I’ve discussed it before but for this article lets quickly put cardio for fat burning into 2 categories.
1) The standard long form or long duration cardio
2) Short burst / HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training or Cardio)
I like HIIT. Number 2. I like it because personally I prefer to do cardio in as little time as possible.
If its a weigh-up between running for 40 minutes at a steady pace, having my legs burn, my feet ache and my lungs burning OR doing 10-20 mins of intense fat burning cardio and then being DONE….I choose the second option 99% of the time.
Now for a person wanting to lose fat I recommend the second approach. BUT I am not going to say that option 1 is not of use. I reluctantly say it is worthwhile and of course there are people I know who simply love long duration cardio. That’s fine.
but I would give the recommendation that short burst HIIT cardio should be added to your workout routine no matter what exercise structure you follow.
